Pregnancy Yoga

| December 11, 2011

One of the best things I did when I was pregnant was yoga. I swear by it and encourage every future yummy mummy to do the same.

Yoga tailored for pregnancy kept me flexible, relaxed, in shape and fit. I know baby girl enjoyed it too, with her encouraging flutters spurring me on!

I followed a simple 40 minute pregnancy yoga routine every other day, in the comfort of my own home.

I highly recommend the pregnancy yoga DVD Yoga For Me and My Baby DVDwhich provides the perfect mix of pregnancy yoga and relaxation.

This pregnancy yoga DVD is filmed in Byron Bay in Australia, with many shots taken on the beach in the beautiful sunshine with the noise of gentle waves in the background.

I always feel so revived and refreshed after this workout.

Yoga For Me and My Baby DVDincludes breathing exercises, the 40 minute yoga workout, pelvic floor exercises, third trimester poses and a post-natal yoga workout.

I love this DVD as the yoga poses are gentle, the instructor is heavily pregnant throughout the pre-natal yoga workout (so you have something in common) and in the post-natal workout she demonstrates the yoga poses with her new baby on the beach!

Having the workout on DVD is especially beneficial when you start to get larger and travelling becomes more difficult.

And at around £5 you can’t go wrong and it’s cheaper than a yoga class!

Pregnant? The Best Pregnancy Book

| December 10, 2011

Whether you like it or not, pregnancy will undoubtedly see you sitting down more often than usual.

I found myself fairly active in the first 6 months, then the weight of my blooming belly started to take it’s toll.

Knowing time to myself was being depleted by the day as D-day (that’s D for Due) drew closer, I made the most of my spare time getting the low-down on what was going on inside me and understanding the changes to my body.

The best pregnancy book is What to Expect When You’re Expectingby Heidi Murkoff, it’s invaluable.

Month by month throughout your pregnancy it tells you what you can expect with changes to you and the development of your bump. It also has in-depth chapters on your pregnancy lifestyle and eating well when pregnant.

If you have any questions during pregnancy or are unsure about what is going on, I’m certain this great book can help.

And if you’re like me, you won’t be able to stop yourself from reading ahead, just so you can be sure of what to expect the following month!

From Career Girl to Yummy Mummy

| December 9, 2011

I became a thirty-something Yummy Mummy to my beautiful baby girl in March 2011.

Over the last few months, I’ve learnt more than a University degree in the world of babies.

I went from high-flying career girl, straight into the depths of motherhood.

Having agreed to work until my due date, it was only when baby girl decided to be 2 weeks overdue that I was granted some time to put my feet up and intrepidly await the joyous moment when I would welcome my baby into the world!

What a roller-coaster this new vocation is!
