You’re Pregnant! What Next?
Congratulations on finding out you are pregnant!
It’s an exciting time and if it’s your first pregnancy you’ll no doubt have lots of questions and concerns.
The average pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks or 280 days from the first day of your last period.
Did you know?
Only 5% of babies arrive on your estimated due date!
My baby was 11 days late, so I was pregnant for almost 42 weeks. Every day after my estimated due date seemed like the longest day of my life, waiting and waiting for baby to arrive!
Find out how many weeks pregnant you are and calculate your due date with the Pregnancy Due Date Calculator.
What next?
Make an appointment to see your GP. Your GP will run through some standard who will ask you which hospital you want to have your baby in.
I had a choice of two hospitals in London. Prior to my GP appointment I’d researched these thoroughly and checked out their maternity wards and facilities, so I knew which hospital I wanted to have my antenatal checks in as well as the birth of my baby.
Jot down a list of questions you may have and see if your GP can provide any advice.
I’d been taking Vitabiotics Pregnacare Conception whilst we were trying to conceive. As soon as I knew I was pregnant I started taking Vitabiotics Pregnacare Plus Omega 3 and continued to take these throughout my entire pregnancy. These multivitamins plus Omega 3 ensured my baby and I had all the essential nutrients we needed, including the recommended level of 400mcg folic acid.
I read What To Expect When You’re Expecting and recommend this to all expectant mothers.
There’s a wealth of pregnancy resources available online. Here are the internet sites I found most helpful when I was pregnant:
Mummy To Be
Expecting a baby is a truly exhilarating time. As a Mummy To Be I felt happiness, nervousness and great curiosity.
Each day that passed brought me one day closer to being a Mummy and holding my precious baby in my arms.
If it’s your first baby I’m sure you’ll have lots of questions and thoughts running through your mind, just as I did when I was pregnant.
I became a first time Mummy to our beautiful baby girl in 2011 and being a Mummy is absolutely the best thing in the world.
My advice to help make your journey through pregnancy relaxing, healthy and fun:
