Struggling to Find the Best Baby Names?

| January 24, 2012

Pregnancy is a doddle when compared to finding the perfect name for your baby.

My husband and I spent months, weeks, days and hours brainstorming, debating and deliberating on names.

And the craziest thing of all was that I despised the names he liked and he wouldn’t (perhaps it was out of spite for me not liking his names) agree to any of the names I came up with.

The clock was ticking and I began to envisage us in hospital, with our new baby in our arms and a blank name tag, whilst we continued to try and reach a decision.

We desperately needed some guidance.

My husband was coming up with more and more bizarre names in an effort to be the one to find the perfect name for our baby.

I feared he was close to approaching wacky celebrity baby name status where the likes of Apple, Sage Moonblood, Ocean and Blue Angel exist.

I went straight to the bookshop for some advice and can heartily recommend 60,001 Best Baby Namesby Diane Stafford and the Penguin Dictionary of First Namesby David Pickering.

It’s not easy. The name you give your baby is the name he or she will be stuck with forever (that’s if they don’t change it by deed poll)!

They say that a name can influence the life of a person, their career and even their ability to interact successfully with others. And if you’re not feeling the strains of future parenthood yet, the pressure is on you to get it right!

Introducing Colours to Baby

| January 20, 2012

Baby Colourswas our baby’s first board book and she was dazzled by the colors of each page, even as a newborn.

It’s an enticing book with bright colours and easy-grip flaps which encourage baby to look behind them to find out what’s hiding within.

Baby Colourshelps baby to explore.

Our baby’s favourite colour? Yellow – for the yellow duck who loves to splash about!

The Best Classical Baby Music

| January 18, 2012

One of the best classical baby music CDs is Classics for Babiesand we were fortunately given this double CD as a gift for our newborn. It has been played time and time again!

It delivers calm and soothing music that engages your baby. And the best thing about this music? It really works!

During those relentless early nights when baby was up we’d play the soothing music and she would be lulled back into sleep. It also worked on myself and my husband as parents, helping us to relax and enjoy the evening rather than feeling frazzled and fraught!

Our baby also loves listening to the music when in her baby bouncer whilst she kicks her feet and waves her arms.

Classics For Babies is designed to be used as part of your baby’s daily routine, helping to give your baby the best start in life by exposing them to classical music to aid brain development.

I highly recommend Classics for Babiesfor yourself as parents or as a gift for new parents who may need to claim back some of those many sleepless nights.
