Celebrate Autumn: Leaf Painting
When the big storm had passed yesterday we ventured out to play. Off to the park we went to admire the stunning colours of the leaves on the trees, armed with a paper bag for collecting some of the beautiful autumn leaves that lay on the ground.
Imogen was drawn to the rich green and yellow colours.
Back at home, Imogen couldn’t wait to paint pictures of the leaves.
We painted the leaves, stamped patterns on the paper and painted over the leaves to show the different shapes. We have some delightful new additions to Imogen’s art wall.
Celebrate Autumn linky opens every Tuesday morning. Everyone is welcome to join.
Link up each week throughout Autumn and share what you love during this wonderful season. It could be photographs of nature, jumping in muddy puddles, seasonal recipes, autumn crafts, family fun in the outdoors, carved pumpkins for Halloween…

Painting Fun
I’m having great fun introducing my baby to painting. It’s just amazing to see how much enjoyment she has creating abstract art with the freedom of using paint and paintbrushes which make an exciting change from her usual crayons and pencils.
When Imogen discovered she could use Mummy’s paintbrush as well as her own, there was no going back. The joy of painting with a paintbrush in each hand simply means more painting fun.
We used John Lewis Chubby Brushes with John Lewis Finger Paints. I’ve found the John Lewis Chubby Brushes are perfect for little hands and the John Lewis Finger Paints wipe clean easily and washed out of Imogen’s clothes.

Baby Art
Baby art is great fun and a wonderful way for your baby to express their imagination and creativity. Imogen started playing with crayons and paper at 10 months old and from around 12 months of age drawing has become part of her every day play.
Here are a couple of my favourite drawings by Imogen at 18 months. Imogen said she was drawing Mama, Dada, Roooar (Lion), Mi Mi (one of our cats), Moon and Bear.
This drawing looks like hearts and roses, especially with the red and pink colours Imogen’s chosen.
Baby art is simple and fun.
We use:
- 24 Crayola brightly coloured and easy to hold crayons (as of yesterday we’re down one as it ended up as a melted block in our tumble dryer)! Crayola Beginnings Jumbo Crayons
- Crayola jumbo pencils, they’re easy for a baby to hold and smooth to draw with on paper, requiring less pressure than some crayons Crayola Beginnings Jumbo Pencils
