Help With Breastfeeding

| February 1, 2012

Breastfeeding isn’t easy, but it’s so worth it if you are able to. In the beginning it takes perseverance, practice and the knowledge of how to breastfeed to get it right. But even then, it doesn’t always go to plan.

I found invaluable support from fellow breastfeeding mothers, midwives and La Leche League.

If you want help with breastfeeding contact La Leche League.

La Leche League can offer help if:

  • You are expecting a baby and want to know more about breastfeeding
  • You are already breastfeeding and want help with challenges
  • You need information on starting solids or weaning
  • You want to meet other breastfeeding mums to share support and experiences
  • You are interested in reading more about breastfeeding, birth and parenting
  • You are a health professional interested in learning more about breastfeeding
  • You want to find out about peer counselling programmes
  • You want to help other breastfeeding mothers

Find out more and get support from your local branch of La Leche League.

Pregnant? The Best Pregnancy Book

| December 10, 2011

Whether you like it or not, pregnancy will undoubtedly see you sitting down more often than usual.

I found myself fairly active in the first 6 months, then the weight of my blooming belly started to take it’s toll.

Knowing time to myself was being depleted by the day as D-day (that’s D for Due) drew closer, I made the most of my spare time getting the low-down on what was going on inside me and understanding the changes to my body.

The best pregnancy book is What to Expect When You’re Expectingby Heidi Murkoff, it’s invaluable.

Month by month throughout your pregnancy it tells you what you can expect with changes to you and the development of your bump. It also has in-depth chapters on your pregnancy lifestyle and eating well when pregnant.

If you have any questions during pregnancy or are unsure about what is going on, I’m certain this great book can help.

And if you’re like me, you won’t be able to stop yourself from reading ahead, just so you can be sure of what to expect the following month!
