Chicco London Best Baby Pushchair

| June 15, 2012

Chicco London Pushchair

The Chicco London Pushchair has flown across the world with us from London to Auckland in New Zealand. It is truly brilliant! You won’t go wrong with this pushchair if you want a lightweight yet sturdy pushchair for travelling and everyday use.

One thing we needed for our first overseas holiday with baby was a travel friendly pushchair. This was going to be our first flight with our baby to Brittany in France.

My husband and I searched shops and online retailers for the best baby pushchair, wanting a pushchair that was lightweight, had all the essentials and a compact umbrella fold for travelling on aeroplanes.

After plenty of research we decided on the Chicco London Pushchair.

Even the budget airline we flew with allowed us to fold the pushchair with the footmuff still attached, saving us additional space in our already bulging suitcase!

The Chicco London Pushchair comes complete with a beautifully soft, fleece lined footmuff which zips easily to the seat cover and a fully protective raincover. The seat has four positions that you can change easily using one hand and fully reclines so your baby or toddler can lie almost flat for sleeping.

Travelling with the Chicco London Pushchair in France

There’s a shopping basket under the pushchair seat which holds a generous amount of items. Our Babymel Changing Bag fitted comfortably under the seat with nappies, changing mat, bottles and food.

The Chicco London Pushchair went on the beach, gravel tracks in the countryside and throughout towns. It was great in all locations.

The Chicco London Pushchair is a fantastic pushchair and we have been surprised at how versatile, robust and easy it is to use. The Chicco London Pushchair is suitable from birth to 3 years and weighs just 7.2 kgs.

First Holiday with Baby in Orford

| February 21, 2012

We ventured to Orford on our first holiday with our baby when she was just 8 weeks old.

Suddenly it was no longer about throwing a few clothes into a bag, it was now about making sure we had absolutely everything we needed for our precious little one!

The car was laden full with baby gear including her baby monitor, moses basket, baby bath, activity play mat, numerous outfits of clothing to cover all eventualities of weather, Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier, breast pump, pram, Moby Wrap (we were still in the fourth trimester) and my parents!

We weren’t even going very far, staying within the confines of the UK so we could drive a reasonably short distance. Up until this point our baby had only travelled in a taxi home from the hospital.

Travelling from London to Orford near the Suffolk coast was going to take at least 2 hours. We were certain we’d need to take several breaks to ease the journey (and calm ourselves should our baby take an extreme dislike to her car seat or the car or her Daddy’s driving)!

Thankfully I’d remembered to include her soothing classical baby music which helped her to sleep almost the entire journey (we were shocked) and kept us relaxed during the busy drive out of London.

Orford is a stunning small town, dominated by the 12th century Orford Castle and Orford Church.

It has some of the best restaurants in the area including Ruth Watson’s Crown and Castle and the Butley Orford Oysterage.

If you’re after a family friendly pub in Orford with the best fish and chips you’ll discover it at The Jolly Sailor. And for delightful lunches and afternoon teas, the Pump Street Bakery will satisfy your food desires!

Suffolk is an amazing and fairly untouched part of England.

It has a stunning coastline and some of the most beautiful inland forests suitable for walking, horse riding and cycling with plenty of walkways and bridal paths.

You can find out more about this amazing location for family holidays at Discover Suffolk.

For somewhere to stay visit Suffolk Secrets which has some of the most beautiful cottages, houses and beach huts for holidays in Suffolk. These are available for rental by the week or for a short break.

I’m Not Fat, Baby on Board

| December 16, 2011

I was lucky to be pregnant during winter, no hot sticky summer nights to contend with my already uncomfortable pregnancy insomnia. Being naturally warmer when pregnant was a blessing throughout the colder months! Although it did have its downside when it came to my daily commute.

I found travelling to and from work at rush hour in the hustle and bustle of London city and grappling for space to protect my bump from being knocked, became more difficult the larger my bump grew. Wearing a winter coat and scarf disguised my delicate situation.

Fellow tube and train travellers weren’t aware of my desperate need to sit down, to give my legs a break from the weight bearing down on them and to provide me with stability when the tube or train lurched around a corner or stopped abruptly.

My previously pregnant friends recommended I wear a badge on my coat that clearly said I was pregnant (and in the nicest possible way, could you therefore please give up your seat). They had done it and told me it worked! Secretly, I scoffed at the idea of wearing a badge. The last time I wore a badge I was 5 years old and declaring to the world it was my Birthday!

But it’s NOT a silly idea. It’s highly practical and pleasantly polite (with the bonus being you don’t need to engage in a needless conversation with a stranger as they’ll know instantly that you’re pregnant).
