Sea Fun at Days Bay

| March 1, 2013

Some of the best beaches in Wellington are found in Days Bay near Eastbourne. There are cafes, restaurants, shops and several stretches of beautiful coastline with warm clear water.

The East by West Ferry takes passengers from Days Bay across the sea to Wellington city in 20 minutes. It would be the perfect location to live if you work in the city and want a relaxed lifestyle with the beach on your doorstep. There are some incredible walks in the Eastbourne area which is surrounded by hills and New Zealand bush.

Wellington City

I adore New Zealand’s capital city. Wellington was my hometown for nine very happy years. The memories it holds for me are etched all over the city. I spent several years studying at Victoria University and then worked in the capital for four years before moving to London.

Things I love most about Wellington:

The beautiful globe-like sculpture of silver ferns hangs over Civic Square.

The amazing Parliamentary Building known as The Beehive. The Executive Wing of parliament has been named The Beehive due to its shape. It’s here that the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers have offices and this is where the Cabinet meets.

Playtime in Wellington Botanical Garden

| February 25, 2013

We had an enjoyable ride in the Wellington Cable Car up to the Botanical Garden. It was a scorching day. Mum, Imogen and I met my sister and baby Amber by the duck pond in a shaded area of the garden. Imogen and Amber ran around and chased one another in Anderson Park where Shakespeare plays are performed outside during the summer.

The incredible views over Wellington from the top of the Cable Car where the Botanical Garden is situated. The beauty of Wellington never ceases to take my breath away.

Cousins Imogen and Amber ran after one another all afternoon. Imogen was desperate to get hold of Amber’s hat and looked like the cat who’d got the cream once it was on her head!
