Weaning Your Baby

Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner

Weaning is such an exciting time for you and your baby. I love the idea of my baby trying foods for the first time. It opens up a brand new world of texture, smell, colour and taste.

It can also be quite a nerve wracking time as you are responsible for feeding your baby the right range and quantity of nutrients for their optimal growth and development.

If you need some guidance on what to feed your baby you will find it all here in Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner which is bright and colourful with over 200 varied and easy recipes for purees and baby meals.

These recipes help to ensure your baby is getting the right combination of nutrients, proteins, carbs and fats. This book has certainly helped to make my life as a Mummy easier!

When first weaning your baby it’s all about your baby trying foods and getting a taste for them, getting used to solids and swallowing food rather than milk. It’s not about eating specific amounts of food as your baby will still need milk for 100% of their nutrition in the early days of weaning.

I highly recommend the book Weaning by Annabel Karmelwhich is a very handy book providing advice on what, when and how to wean, as well as including meal planners for the different stages of progression onto solids.

Have fun with natural, organic foods for your baby even in the early stages, everything your baby eats contributes to their health and wellbeing. I highly recommend good nutrition from the first spoonful of food your baby tastes.

I love the Annabel Karmel Food Masher and Bowlwhich is great for mashing soft fruits and vegetables.

The bowl has inner ridges to help make mashing ever so quick and easy and the handle grip prevents slipping, as does the non-slip base on the bowl.

The Annabel Karmel Food Masher and Bowl is really convenient when you’re on the go or travelling, just pop in the soft fruit (some great fruits to try are banana, avocado, pear and peach) and cooked veg (you can try carrots, sweet potato, parsnip and swede) and you’ll have tasty and nutritious food for your baby in seconds.

And when weaning you will certainly need some good bibs for your baby so we’ve selected the best baby bibs – these are truly brilliant!

How to Take the Best Baby Photos

| January 8, 2012

Every time you’re with your little one you’ll want to capture the moment and take the best baby photos.

I’ve been amazed at the speed my baby has grown and developed. Each day she looks slightly different and surprises me with something new.

One of the best ways to capture these memories is with a good quality, easy to use digital camera. This way you can be out and about, running around and still manage to snap away.

The Olympus VR-340 Digital Camerahas outstanding reviews. It’s a slimline camera with a powerful lense and 10x optical zoom. With a 16 megapixel image sensor and HD (720p) movie recording you will always be able to capture and share those special times.

Once you’ve got the right camera, how do you take the best baby photos?

Numerous books have been written on this subject but the two which really stand out for their ease of use (you don’t need any prior knowledge of photography) and lack of technical jargon are:

Both books showcase beautiful photos which provide inspiration for settings.

And if you’re like most time strapped parents, you’ll be wanting to save as much time as possible when transferring your photos from your camera to your computer.

To quickly and easily transfer hundreds of photos from my camera to my computer I use the Integral USB External Memory Card Readerand at around £2 it’s worth it’s weight in gold!

All you need to do is put your memory card into the USB slot of the SD Reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer. It then transfers all photos and videos in a few seconds, directly to your computer. It’s so much faster than transferring them directly from your camera to your computer! Saving you precious time.

The Best Newborn Toys

| January 4, 2012

Newborn babies soon start to take an interest in things outside the sphere of Mummy and Daddy.

My baby loved to gaze at the Tiny Love Double Sided First Book with it’s vivid black and white pictures.

This is one of the best newborn toys. Our baby has played with this since she was a newborn and she still loves reading and playing with this toy now that she is 10 months old.

From age 3 months the reverse coloured side, with 3D illustrations and activities, keeps younger babies entertained with bright colours and crackly textured animals.

This book can conveniently be tied to your baby’s cot with the red ribbons attached to it.

Now my baby can sit up unaided she plays with this fold-out book on the floor, enjoying flipping it over and folding it up.

This first baby book will last months and months and provide hours of entertainment and play!

Here are some of my baby’s best newborn toys:
