No Stretch Marks with Trilogy Rosehip Oil

| December 13, 2011

Here are some excellent natural and organic skin care and beauty products I discovered when pregnant. I simply can’t live without these, even now as a Mummy!

If you want some real pampering when pregnant using natural and organic skin care products, so as not to absorb any dangerous chemicals through the layers of your skin, try the brilliant range of Trilogy Skincare products.

Trilogy is a New Zealand company who use organic Rosehip Oil, renowned for it’s restorative and anti-ageing properties. Trilogy do not test on animals.

As an added bonus, I was lucky enough to get through my pregnancy without one single stretch mark to show for the 9 months (+2 weeks!) of my gradually blooming tummy, thanks to Trilogy Rosehip Oil.

I put my luck down to the regular use of Trilogy products, gently rubbing Trilogy 100% Natural Certified Organic Rosehip Oil over my expanding belly, which helped to prevent stretch marks and was a wonderful way to bond with my growing baby as I talked to her at the same time (she thought it was marvelous having a gentle daily massage and rewarded me with plenty of little kicks and punches)!

I like to use the Everything Balm as a body moisturiser, it smells divine!

I still use Trilogy 100% Natural Certified Organic Rosehip Oil as a facial oil during winter to keep my skin moisturised and the Trilogy Everything Balm is multi-purpose so worth carrying around in your pram bag!

I’m so glad I used Trilogy products when I was pregnant, I couldn’t have done without them – and they’re such great value.

Pregnant & Not Sleeping?

| December 12, 2011

Someone should have warned me. I’m a complete and utter sucker when it comes to sleep. Without it, I’m cranky and disheveled. With it, I’m sweet as pie and able to conquer the world.

I knew that when the time came and I was holding my baby in my arms, sleep would be a distant memory. But nobody told me it would be taken away before I even had my baby in my arms!

Sleep was confiscated from me when I was feeling huge and dealing with the rush of pregnancy hormones.

Insomnia in the third trimester has to be your body’s way of getting you ready for motherhood, for those days when your baby decides it doesn’t want to nod off to sleepy land.

I found it hard enough not being able to sleep on my stomach, let alone having no chance of sleeping on my back due to the weight of my belly. That only left me with two choices – the left side or the right side. I felt I was being seriously hard done by.

Something had to alleviate the boredom of my two sleeping options, especially with the uncomfortable position these left me in with my ever expanding belly.

I’d heard there were pillows to help take the weight off your belly and distribute it more evenly across your legs. The most popular of these being the DreamGenii Maternity Support Pillowwhich is recommended by midwives and suitable for use during pregnancy and with your baby.

I just had to have it, anything that would buy me more precious sleep was surely worth it’s weight in gold.

And it was. Not only did this genius pillow provide the support my body needed in bed so that I could relax and enjoy a longer slumber, I’ve also used it as a breast-feeding pillow since my baby has been born. Despite being a little pricey for a pillow, it’s been worth it.

I recommend this as an extremely effective sleep-aid when pregnant and as a useful pillow for you and baby in the following months when feeding your baby for the comfort of you both.

Pregnancy Yoga

| December 11, 2011

One of the best things I did when I was pregnant was yoga. I swear by it and encourage every future yummy mummy to do the same.

Yoga tailored for pregnancy kept me flexible, relaxed, in shape and fit. I know baby girl enjoyed it too, with her encouraging flutters spurring me on!

I followed a simple 40 minute pregnancy yoga routine every other day, in the comfort of my own home.

I highly recommend the pregnancy yoga DVD Yoga For Me and My Baby DVDwhich provides the perfect mix of pregnancy yoga and relaxation.

This pregnancy yoga DVD is filmed in Byron Bay in Australia, with many shots taken on the beach in the beautiful sunshine with the noise of gentle waves in the background.

I always feel so revived and refreshed after this workout.

Yoga For Me and My Baby DVDincludes breathing exercises, the 40 minute yoga workout, pelvic floor exercises, third trimester poses and a post-natal yoga workout.

I love this DVD as the yoga poses are gentle, the instructor is heavily pregnant throughout the pre-natal yoga workout (so you have something in common) and in the post-natal workout she demonstrates the yoga poses with her new baby on the beach!

Having the workout on DVD is especially beneficial when you start to get larger and travelling becomes more difficult.

And at around £5 you can’t go wrong and it’s cheaper than a yoga class!
