Family Day Out in Whitstable

| July 5, 2013

When we discovered the forecast was for 26 degrees we knew we had to get to the beach. Imogen loves the seaside and it’s been a few months since our last beach adventures in New Zealand and France.

We decided to have a family day out in Whitstable, Kent. It’s roughly a one hour drive from where we live in London. I find that just getting out of London feels like a mini holiday and we certainly packed enough to make it feel like we were going away for a few days! We love being close to nature and visiting the beach for a day was great fun.

The Whitstable Fish Market by the quay was open and selling a variety of fresh seafood.

We found an Oyster Shell Recycling point where used oyster shells are deposited to help re-establish oyster beds for the future.

  1. Oh I love Whitstable, we were there the last time we had a burst of hot sunshine, it’s so easy from our part of London too. Great photos!

  2. It’s nice to escape sometimes. The beach really is a great place to explore. We hope to make it to the beach tomorrow if the weather holds!

It looks great in Whitstable, I’m sure we’re going there or somewhere nearby soon. The in-laws have rented a cottage and we’re doing a weekend in Kent (they live in Suffolk). Lovely to meet you today x

  4. Oh what a lovely day out. The beach is just such an adventure isn’t it? The Oyster shell recycling is a fabulous idea. I love the look of the fish market, I have a real weakness for seafood 🙂

When we lived in London we always did the same at the weekend. For us it was Brighton as Nick’s Mum lived there too. Great feeling to be beside the sea, as you say like a mini holiday. Some lovely photos here, it looks like a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you for joining me on Country Kids.
