Sunflowers in the Garden

| September 3, 2013

At the start of the Summer we joined the #KidsGrowWild Challenge and were sent a lovely Little Pals Garden Kit. Imogen had great fun preparing the flower pots and planting the seeds. We then waited patiently to see what would grow in our city garden.

For the last few weeks we’ve enjoyed wild flowers and a beautiful Sunflower. With Imogen’s consistent watering and care the flowers have grown and flourished daily.

I couldn’t resist taking some photos of our beautiful garden of flowers grown from seed.

We have a very proud little gardener. What can we grow in our city garden this Winter?

Natural History Museum

| March 18, 2013

We went to the Natural History Museum last week in South Kensington, London. Hubby and I thought it would be a fun day out for us all on Imogen’s 2nd Birthday and the museum certainly didn’t disappoint a two year old who loves animals!

We highly recommend the Museum as an educational and fun family day out in London.

Imogen had her first journey on the London Underground Tube from Tower Hill to South Kensington. As a city girl born and bred she climbed into her seat and waited to go.

Imogen loved showing Mummy and Daddy the animals in the museum. There was plenty of finger pointing as Imogen went around and highlighted the incredible animals she saw.

The Dinosaur exhibition was very exciting with several moving replicas of dinosaurs including a T.rex. After closing her eyes initially when she saw the T.rex she then warmed to it when we named it ‘Mummy Dinosaur’ and she asked to see it again!

The amazing display of large Mammals includes a Blue Whale, the largest creature ever.

Inside the Creepy Crawlies exhibition we found spiders, beetles, crabs, butterflies, scorpions and many other species. And there were some extra big specimens!

The Natural History Museum building is a work of art with stunning architecture inside and out. The building was completed in 1880 and the museum first opened in 1881. The Museum is open every day from 10am but is closed from 24 to 26 December.

Dressing Up in Fairy Wings

| January 29, 2013

I simply couldn’t resist these fairy wings when I saw them. As soon as Imogen spied them it was love at first sight and she was dressing up in fairy wings with her purple wellies.

Toddlers and children have great fun dressing up and role playing. It encourages children to use their imaginations, develop vocabulary skills and build confidence.

Often your children have the most fun dressing up when they’re making use of clothes and items you already have in your home. Check your wardrobe and cupboards for:

  • towels and sheets (these make great capes)
  • a plastic colander (can become a helmet)
  • belts
  • scarves
  • shawls
  • gloves of all lengths
  • old bags
  • aprons
  • tutus
  • dance costumes
  • hats
  • glasses with the lenses removed
  • costume jewellery (make sure it’s safe for the age of your child)

There’s no end to what your toddler or child can dress up in and pretend to be so update and add new items to your child’s dressing up box as often as you like.

If you’re looking for fairy wings for your toddler to play dress up in there’s a beautiful set including a Tutu, Butterfly Wings and a Wand at John Lewis.
