Lego Duplo Read and Build
I’ve just discovered the world of Lego Duplo Read and Build for babies aged 1.5 years to 4 years old.
It’s bright, bold, colourful and encourages imaginative play and dexterity. Each set comes with an accompanying story book with easy to follow instructions and an engaging story line that makes building fun and engages your child.
In the Lego Duplo Read and Build range there’s the Busy Farm Set, the Lets Go Vroom Set and the Grow Caterpillar Grow Set.
A Lego Duplo Read and Build Set would make a perfect stocking filler this Christmas.
Baby Art
Baby art is great fun and a wonderful way for your baby to express their imagination and creativity. Imogen started playing with crayons and paper at 10 months old and from around 12 months of age drawing has become part of her every day play.
Here are a couple of my favourite drawings by Imogen at 18 months. Imogen said she was drawing Mama, Dada, Roooar (Lion), Mi Mi (one of our cats), Moon and Bear.
This drawing looks like hearts and roses, especially with the red and pink colours Imogen’s chosen.
Baby art is simple and fun.
We use:
- 24 Crayola brightly coloured and easy to hold crayons (as of yesterday we’re down one as it ended up as a melted block in our tumble dryer)! Crayola Beginnings Jumbo Crayons
- Crayola jumbo pencils, they’re easy for a baby to hold and smooth to draw with on paper, requiring less pressure than some crayons Crayola Beginnings Jumbo Pencils
If you’re looking for wonderful arts and crafts ideas for slightly older children head over to Red Ted Art where there’s plenty of great crafty activities to choose from.
Brio Duck Review
We have been lucky enough to receive a beautiful wooden Brio Duck to review from Hello Baby Direct.
My baby, Imogen, has always loved ducks.
One of the first baby signs she made was the quack quack sign when she saw a duck in the local pond.
Since then we’ve bought story books with bright yellow duck characters and rubber ducks for playing in the bath.
But we’ve never had a duck toy until the pull along Brio Duck.
Imogen’s face lit up the moment she saw the box with the photographs of the yellow, white and red duck on the sides. She knew what was hiding in that box!
And when it came out of the box there were squeals of excitement as we pulled the Brio Duck along our wooden floor and it shook it’s head from side to side and flapped it’s yellow wings.
Playing with the Brio Duck has really helped Imogen in the early stages of learning to walk, promoting balance and motor skills.
At 15 months Imogen is now very stable on her feet and running around, with the Brio Duck never far behind, quacking at the pleasure of being such a loved toy.
As with all Brio wooden toys, this is a quality toy that will last the test of time and is beautifully crafted.
You can purchase the Brio Duck pull along wooden toy at Hello Baby Direct.
