Vitamin D

| September 9, 2012

Holland & Barrett – Vitamin D3 (25ug) £7.99 for 100 tablets

As a Nutritional Advisor I recommend eating your way to health and wellbeing through a wide range of wholefoods.

But sometimes it can be more difficult to get the vitamins and minerals you need from food only. A good example is Vitamin D which is required by everyone for healthy bones, immune system health and the maintenance of normal muscle function.

Vitamin D can be absorbed through our skin from the sun but many people in the Northern Hemisphere struggle to maintain the required levels of Vitamin D in this way as our weather is often cloudy, we spend a lot of time indoors due to primarily working in offices and we (sensibly) use sun cream during the summer months.

As we age the body may not convert vitamin D from sunlight as easily. In this case it can be highly beneficial to take Vitamin D supplements to satisfy the increase in the recommended intake.

My husband and I are in our mid 30’s and take Vitamin D3 daily (25µg, one tablet per day) to support the healthy functioning of our immune system and bone health.

Vitabiotics – WellKid Baby & Infant Liquid; Suitable from 3 months to 5 years

I also recommend babies over the age of 3 months have the supplement vitamin and mineral syrup Vitabiotics – WellKid Baby & Infant Liquid.

Government health experts recommend that babies over the age of 6 months supplement the vitamins A, C and D. Vitabiotics – WellKid Baby & Infant Liquid also includes B and E vitamins and the minerals iron and zinc to help safeguard your growing infant’s nutritional intake and for a healthy immune system.

Babies and infants have a high nutrient requirement in relation to their body size to support their rapid physical growth and the development of healthy bones, muscles, blood and the brain.

Organic Babies Mum and Baby Rescue Balm

| March 27, 2012

Green People kindly sent a sample of Organic Babies Mum and Baby Rescue Balm for my baby and I to try. We’ve been using this balm for 2 weeks now with excellent results.

In cold weather I develop eczema on my hands which leads to very dry and itchy, red skin. I’ve been massaging Mum and Baby Rescue Balm on my hands every evening before bed and found in 3 days my skin was feeling less dry and itchy and my hands looked smoother. My eczema has now cleared up on my hands and I have soft skin again which I’m very happy about!

My baby’s knees have been rough and red since she started crawling. I’ve found rubbing a little Mum and Baby Rescue Balm on her knees after her bath has soothed her skin and softened the rough patches. She also suffers from eczema occasionally in the folds of her skin so I’ve been using this balm sparingly around her chin, on her elbows and in the creases of her legs. It’s kept her skin well moisturised and has helped to prevent dry skin which can lead to eczema.

As the weather’s getting warmer I’ve started using Organic Babies Mum and Baby Rescue Balm on my elbows and heels to moisturise my skin which has become dry over the winter. I’ve discovered it’s also lovely used as a lip balm!

Instead of carrying several items in your baby changing bag you only need to take Organic Babies Mum and Baby Rescue Balm for both you and your baby!

Mum & Baby Rescue Balm is great if you’re pregnant as it can be used for perineum massage prior to giving birth to help prevent tearing. And for nursing mothers it’s safe to use on sore nipples before, during and after breastfeeding.

This amazing balm contains 95.9% certified organic ingredients and is made from the key ingredients of Hemp, Shea Butter and Calendula to moisturise and soften skin.

What I love most about this balm is that it’s gentle enough for both myself and my baby to use and is free from Parabens, Lanolin, phthalates, artificial perfumes, petrochemicals and colourants.

There’s a great range of Green People Organic Babies and Children Products for all your baby needs including bath products, nappy cream, sunscreen, toothpaste, shampoo, massage oil, moisturiser and lotions.

Organic Babies Mum and Baby Rescue Balm 100ml is available from Green People RRP £9.70.
