Baby Laptops

| December 1, 2012

Looking for a laptop for your baby to keep yours free from dribble and sticky fingers?

Here are some of the best baby laptops for entertaining and educating baby with a variety of music, shapes, colours, numbers, sound effects and the alphabet.

Each baby laptop is suitable for different age groups to provide the right level of learning and play.

The LeapFrog My Talking LapPup is suitable for ages 6 to 18 months. It makes learning fun as the puppy’s face lights up and its mouth animates whilst singing and playing with your baby. It’s useful for on-the-go play and provides opportunities to explore shapes, counting, opposites and colours. Baby can lift and close the lid for an interactive game of peek-a-book with the puppy.

The VTech Baby’s Laptop is suitable from 9 months and helps to develop your baby’s early sight and recognition. It mimics adult laptops and has a light-up screen with play, teach and object modes, different sound effects and shapes. The 8-way click-tick mouse and buttons help to develop fine motor skills and it’s a great introduction for baby to early computer skills.

Lego Duplo Read and Build

| November 24, 2012

I’ve just discovered the world of Lego Duplo Read and Build for babies aged 1.5 years to 4 years old.

It’s bright, bold, colourful and encourages imaginative play and dexterity. Each set comes with an accompanying story book with easy to follow instructions and an engaging story line that makes building fun and engages your child.

In the Lego Duplo Read and Build range there’s the Busy Farm Set, the Lets Go Vroom Set and the Grow Caterpillar Grow Set.

A Lego Duplo Read and Build Set would make a perfect stocking filler this Christmas.

Weaning

| November 4, 2012

I started weaning Imogen when she was almost 6 months old. We experimented with different foods and textures which made weaning really enjoyable and a good way to introduce Imogen to new flavours.

Each day I’d give Imogen a teaspoon or two of pureed organic carrots or pureed organic pears which are very gentle on a baby’s tummy. I always try to use organic produce for the benefit of my family’s health.

Imogen has the East Coast Multi Height Highchair and I highly recommend it. It’s made of solid wood and grows with your child, becoming a chair which is suitable for use for children up to the age of 10 years old. When I introduced baby led weaning it was great to use the tray table as a large plate to lay out the assortment of foods for Imogen to try.

Some of my favourite no-cook baby foods are mashed banana and mashed avocado. Banana’s are easy to digest, sweet to taste and provide slow release sugars for sustained energy. Avocados are full of nutrients and help to boost the immune system as they contain the antioxidant vitamin E.
