Daisy Roots Shoes

| March 22, 2013

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Daisy Roots and asked if I’d like to review a pair of their beautiful handmade leather shoes. I love supporting British companies so I was very excited when I discovered that Daisy Roots have been making shoes in Northamptonshire since 1995.

After visiting their lovely website my mind was full of delightful little leather shoes and the next step was to make a decision as to which pair I’d like to review. The following morning when Imogen asked for an apple I had my mind made up! I chose a pair of beautifully rich purple leather shoes with green apples and flowers on the front.

Imogen loves her new Daisy Roots leather shoes. They keep her feet cosy and warm on our wooden floors and stop her from slipping when she’s running around and playing. For an active toddler they’re the perfect indoor shoe!

What I love most about Daisy Roots shoes:

  • They have suede anti-slip soles
  • There’s room for growth
  • They’re made from soft, breathable leather
  • They fit perfectly around the ankle and are extremely soft
  • They’re made from eco-friendly leather and are chrome free
  • They’re vegetable dyed so are safe for babies who like to chew everything

They look gorgeous when worn with tights or trousers.

Daisy Roots make leather shoes for babies and toddlers in a variety of sizes from newborn to 4 years old. They’re recommended for indoor and pram use and can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth.

I think they’d make the perfect gift for a baby or child and there’s the option to have your shoes packaged in a gift box. Daisy Roots provide free delivery within the UK.

Mild Vegetable Curry

| March 20, 2013

Welcome to my series of weekly family meals. I’ll share my favourite fresh, nutritious, easy and quick meals for the whole family to enjoy. Where possible, we always eat and cook with organic ingredients. I like to buy the freshest produce for my family to ensure we’re getting the essential vitamins and minerals we need through our food.

This week’s family meal is Mild Veg Curry. It’s healthy, quick and delicious.

Serves 4

Prep Time 10 minutes. Cooking Time 25 minutes.

family mealsIngredients

  • 1 Onion
  • 3 cloves of Garlic
  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 Carrots
  • Head of Brocoli
  • 500g Passata
  • Patak’s Mild Curry Paste
  • Wholegrain Rice

I love Waitrose Organic Passata and Waitrose Organic Whole Grain Rice.

The Passata is made of 100% organic tomatoes and provides a smooth and tasty sauce to which you can add herbs and spices as you please. I always use whole grain brown rice instead of white rice for it’s nutty full flavour and health properties.

The Photo Gallery: Red

| March 20, 2013

This week’s Photo Gallery theme on Tara Cain’s blog Sticky Fingers is Red. Friday 15 March was Red Nose Day and so far over an amazing £75 million has been raised in aid of transforming lives across the UK and Africa. Well done everyone who took part!

I’m a big fan of the colour Red. Here are some of my favourite photos taken this year.
